Community Partners

Becoming a partner...

The Community Partners Program (CPP) publicly identifies businesses as supporters of the Air Force Association (AFA) and consequently of the US Air Force. When the business becomes a Partner, it may sponsor one or two persons within the business as members of AFA.

Under the direction of the Vice President for Community Partners, Chapter 138 is in the process of publishing guidelines to administer the program at the Chapter level. One of the first orders of business, is to search a data base of retirees who may be currently placed in local companies, who would be an initial cadre of contacts to the community. Some form of a data base already exists, but it becomes a matter of retrieving the information and establishing personal contacts with these key individuals.

The next step will be to prepare an action plan which complements the Chapter's goals and realistically within the capabilities of current resources and finances, go after potential Partners. Inasmuch as the CP is designed to satisfy several needs within the Chapter; i.e., fund raising, membership, community support, and attract new, young leaders, to name a few; approaching and recruiting Partners becomes a function for all Chapter members.

To provide a solid program from which all members of Chapter 138 may participate and may confidently approach potential Partners, a set of guidelines outlining step-by-step procedures to conduct a successful Partner's recruitment will be published. For the immediate future, a constant development of incentives to encourage Partners to contribute to objectives beyond the Partner's two memberships need to be done. This effort will result in successively larger donations to the Chapter's treasury and accordingly, provide the Chapter with a greater capability to benefit the community. Such incentives as enhanced civilian Partner access to Hickam AFB, participation in Base Functions such as golf tournaments, air shows, receptions, and community recognition programs will need to be established.
